What they don't tell you about University applications

1) A leading university will rarely look at a personal statement if the predicted grades do not meet the entry requirements. So don't waste your choices and check what your predicted grades are before making your choices

2) Stay away from humour and jokes because not every University will appreciate that!

3) Cliche sentences as an opening paragraph are a complete 'NO-NO' here are few:
-I have always wanted to be an Engineer,
-Nursing is a very challenging and demanding career,
-I have a passion/desire/hunger for...,
-I am fascinated by

4) Quotes have been overly used in personal statements so refrain from using them

5) Grammar and spelling mistakes in a personal statement will put your University place in jeapordy even if it's ONE mistake so proof read 1000 times if you have to!

6)Your GCSEs do matter: Especially if a University is trying to narrow it down between students of similar academic abilities so make sure you get the good GCSE grades now!

7) Some Universities are biased against students who have spent 3 years in college education-so a repeat of AS levels. If this is you make sure your university is ok with that. You might need your teacher to explain in the reference why you are a repeat student.

8) Make sure the email address on your UCAS form is professional: Remember your form is the Universities first impression of you so no sexyme@hotmail.co.uk
